Frequently Asked Questions
What are your fees?
Hourly rate: $50/hour
Half-hour rate: $35/half hour
Will my health insurance cover coaching fees?
Not yet, but there is good news! The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC), a nonprofit affiliate of the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), announced the American Medical Association's (AMA) approval of new Category III Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Codes for health and well-being coaching effective January 1, 2020.
NBHWC and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) successfully applied for the creation of these new tracking codes, utilizing the NBHWC standards. VA will be tracking the use of the coaching codes to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching as a part of the Department's whole health system of care. This data could support Category I approval, which means that in a few years, health insurance companies may cover health coaching.
Can I pay for coaching with my Health Savings Account (HSA)?
This may be possible, but you will need to check with your particular HSA company.
Do you accept checks?
I do not accept checks or cash. All sessions are prepaid using PayPal.
Will I need a computer to meet with you virtually?
I meet with most of my clients via Zoom, a web-based video conferencing platform. If you do not have a smartphone or computer capable of operating Zoom, or if you are not comfortable with the video format, I am happy to coach you over the phone.
Can you tell me more about health coaching?
"Coaching is an interpersonal process that helps people achieve positive change and growth. By harnessing innate strengths, uncovering intrinsic motivations, and asking empowering questions, coaching fosters self-generated insight, vision, and goal clarity." - Institute of Coaching
A health coach is not a therapist, nutritionist, or licensed medical professional. If I feel you need the support of a licensed health professional, I will bring this up in our sessions. When appropriate, I can continue to offer you my support as you work with other professionals. In fact, I prefer to work with you while in collaboration with your main health provider. This is something we can discuss in our first session together!
